View Full Version : Ozone (plus carbon) long term = trace element deficiency?!

Since the water needs to run through carbon after it's sterilized with ozone (in venturi skimmer), will ozone plus carbon not cause any major trace elements defficiencies? I mean I don't have a way to test them, but what I'm wondering if regular water changes with freshly made saltwater will be enough to replenish especially important trace elements such as iodine, magnesium, strontium etc...? Or should I supplement with those whenever using the ozone/carbon combo ? Even worse wouldn't those two cause any major ionic imbalances over the long run ?

Thank you,
Luke

I doubt it. Lots of people with amazing reef use lots of carbon 24/7 with no ill effects.
