has anyone use LED's as their primary light source? i am very interested in doing this and i would be thankful for any help on the subject.

This is a thread talking about it, a ouple of people did do it. If you do a search for it, I forget here or nano-reef, you will find the guy that used 8 leds to light his tank. It is a great project but much more expensive to do.

I used Blue Leds for my moonlight. I solder them down on a tiny pcb board and use a double side tape to stick to my light hood.
