Hi, Folks:

I currently setted up my tank "AGAIN" after my temp controller screw up my tank. Everything looks ok except algae problem.

I used to have a lot coraline algae (I assume I use correct name. It's dark purple-red colour, started from tiny dark spot, after rock was dried couple days, it turn to calcium white, so I'm quite sure it is good algae instead of bacteria thing ""Blood red, velvet-like algae"" on rock, can be easily removed from the rock).

About 2 months after tank is running, there is some white tiny spots on the rock. The shape, pattern, texture, and size looks just like "Coraline algae", but in white colour.

Is it good algae or not? If not good algae, what should I do? It looks it's started spreading....

I can't take good pic of that thing from any direction. If pic is needed, please let me know.

Thanks for the help.

Sincerely
Dysan C. Tsai

It is hard to say. Coraline algae will bleach. But it will come back.

How are the Ca levels in your tank?

I think it is just a matter of time before your coraline algae is back to its usual colour.
