I just bought a clarkii clown 3 days ago and I noticed that he has a white sore on his left side. While he is eating fine, he seems to be hiding in corners and swimming very fast. I bought a box of Maracyn but before I put it in I want to make sure it is ok to use in systems with live rock. Would I be better using Maroxy or should I stick with this? Thanks for your help!!

Hi:
Maracyin is an antibiotic, and hence will kill bacteria (maryoxy is also another type of antibiotic??).
So to answer your question directly, it will have no effect on the live rock, but MAY have the potential to elimiante all these bacteria which reside in the LR.
W/ thats said you might not kill all the bacteria off but you will weaken or reduce your bioefficiency of this live rock.
So I would say to you...I would prefer you treat the fish in a seperate quarentine tank, and then returnt the fish to the display tank.
Your best bet is too NEVER treat the main tank w/ medicines. Well thas my opinion at least
