What salinity should I keep my tank at in order to encourage coralline algae growth?

More importantly you need Calcium!

Not just calcium. Alkalinity is also important, as are having low phosphates and reasonable amounts of current.

agree with the above. salinity has never been the key for me,...it's high flow, calcium and alk that's done the trick. Even if i've got the calc and alk in line, the high flow is important.

Why is it that everyone thinks that its all about salinity (no offense dwanner, Im glad you asked it gives me a chance to ask a question or two myself). I really think that the entire chemical aspect of the reef tank is misunderstood, it would be wonderful if someone could give a nice long and informative post on it.
