Can anyone recommend 90MM fans for a Metal Halide DIY canopy. I'm finding the MHs raise my water temp 3-4 degress when they are on. Don't want to spend a fortune but quietness is more important than cost. Thanks

If you want to buy local, Radio Shack has 3.5" fans for about $18 each. Any of the online stores Marine Depot, Drs F @s etc have fans but cost more plus shipping. I just got some at a local electronics store for $16, with ball bearings rather than sleave bearings. I guess they should last a little longer but for the price, no big deal.

www.digikey.com has some good deals also. Just search for fan, then click on ac fan and then apply the filters to what kind of fan you want.

I got the 120mm 78cfm Sunon fans which are super quiet for $14.

I'm pretty happy with my two cheapo Radio Shack fans http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/images/graemlins/icon_thumbs.gif

I used two radio shack fans on a 40 gsllon and was able to lower the temp by 5 degress. I would hook them up to a chiller controler. That way you can set it and forget it.

I also have 3 of the bigger 4" radioshack AC fans mounted in an AV rack. While they aren't quiet, they aren't loud. Compared to some others I've had, they are great. The 3" shouldn't be any problem at all. I believe they all have decibel ratings on the boxes, so you should check it out.

Try these also. If your going with a larger fan, 120mm Id probably go with the orion. But 80 or 92mm I like the above sites. Very cheap and specs. on dec. levels per cfm is very good.
