this is what i've done so far:

I've used 2x4s for the frame with 2x2s for corner braces.

I will cover it with a nice stained maple, and post another photo at that time

Looks nice. But will you have enough room to bring your pvc or whatever you are going to be using into the bottom tank which I guess is your sump, or fuge? And how will you get it back up to the main tank?

Will you have a HOB? Calicum ractor? Sump? Closed Loop????

I may not be a smart man but I think you should cycle your tank with more then air before you start dumping fish in there....

Looks nice so far make sure you give yourself space between the wall and the tank

Yes,
I'll be moving it out a few inches, for sure. This will give me room for my pvc and whatnot.

I guess i'll use a submersible pump to get the water back into the tank.

I am fairly new to all of this, so i'm doing it piece by piece, with as much research as possible

and the air is cycling the tank well, and curing some diy live rock while i speak...
I hear the accumulated dust lowers the PH of the rock naturally
