View Full Version : Balancing using Seachem

Ok. Maybe a dumb question, but one that's causing me some consternation.

Background: I have a 10g nano with a little coral, not much. I am using GARF's "Bulletproof Tank" method (alternating weeks using Seachem Reef Builder and Reef Advantage Calcium). My tank must be too small to handle this type of dosing as my alk reading is all over the place (mainly down). Calcium and alk never seem to be in balance using this routine.

Question: is there a way that I can dose BOTH at the same time? I understand that I shouldn't put both in my makeup water. I could dose one in the morning and the other in the evening ... but when I'm out of town someone else must do this chore and to them, it's a chore. Any suggestions?

Frankly, I don't see how it could be otherwise, dosing an alkaklintiy supplement one week and a calcium supplement the next. Seems like poor advice to me. :(

Certainly you can dose both the same day. Dose one then dose the other a few minutes later when the first has fully mixed in. Determine the dose based on test measurements, not a recipe.

A balanced additive system is an even better choice:

Thanks. I'll start dosing both each day (morning then night).
