I built a tank hood and stand and the wood is light colored. The hood comes down around the upper trim of the tank so its covered up, but there is still a dark wood colored trim around the bottom. Any ideas on covering that up? What has everyone done in the past?

Use a piece of 1x2 or 1x3 pine and stain it to match. The 1x2 will slip right around the trim and set on your stand. You can even use a router and put a decorative edge on it. I build all my stands so they are exactly the size of the tank front and sides and then install a piece of 1x4 or 1x6 along the top edge and along the floor as decorative trim. I then do the same treatment on the canopy only using the 1x2 or 1x3 as the canopy is not as tall and it looks in proportion.

When I build stands for tanks, I use a skirt board to cover the trim on the tank. Use the same thing for the tops.
