I want to have my fan blowing into my hood, but I am not sure if I

should mount it on the outside or inside of my hood? Any help will

be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Glenn

On my 20H I have one fan mounted on the back outside blowing in and have eggcrate inside the top of the canopy. On my 100G I have two fans each mounted on the inside on each end. The also blow in and I hole sawed holes in the top of the canopy lid.

I cut a square hole on each end of my 75 for 80mm fans to fit. They blow in. I replaced one after two years. Best 6 bucks I ever spent.

qdoggie how did you get the fans to fit into a square hole?

The fans are actually square with a circular opening where the fan blade fits. I went to Harbor Freight Tools and bought their large hole saw kit for less than $10 and cut circular holes for my 120mm ( 4") holes.

I used a 3" holesaw for my 80mm case fans. I mounted the fans on the inside, and then bought 80mm fan covers for the outside.

About the cheapest place youll find em. I prefer thge 92mm compared to the 80. You get much more flow for about the same noise. At 6 bucks who can argue???
I drilled a hole large enough, then used a jig saw to make the cut. It came out all right. Could of done better if I took my time.

Thanks yall for the help. I bought a 3 1/2' hole saw and I am going to mount it on the inside with the cover on the outside. I also have a piece of glass over the tank to help prevent corrosion.
Again Thanks,
-Glenn
