I am starting to build a skimmer and can get some Petg cheap. The guy says it is just like acrylic but can be bent and cut more easily. I think I am going to try it if no one responds if it doesnt work, at least I got practice on something right. THanks for any help

For a skimmer it should be ok, however gluing acrylic or PVC to it (riser tube) may be a PITA. It's much softer than acrylic, very similar to polycarbonate (Lexan) in this regard, and because it's so soft - can get kinda scary to work with if it gets away from you.
I do not know the effects of long term pressure (from water) or water absorption on joint strength so do keep an eye on this. It may work very well though. Good luck :)
