Do these work as moonlights?

blue (http://www.svc.com/v12inch2ccflblue.html)

or

so called uv (http://www.svc.com/v12inch2ccflblack.html)

I don't think the UV is actually UV. I think it is dark purple. What do you people think of this?

I think you need a converter or a computer power supply to power those.

I have one in my computer.
It's not not UV light. It is pretty bright blue light.

I'm sure a left over transformer from a charger or something will take care of the power. I think it's 12v and I don't think it draws that much amperage.

Can you dim that light?

I don't think you can dim it. I'm afraid it's too bright also.

They are pretty bright on the dimming I have not been able to find out a full answer to that myself. One web site that sells them, says they are dimmable by either varing the voltage or frequency, I can't remember which and right now I can't remember what web site it was.

Probably the voltage. The ccfl runs off DC, so the frequency doesn't matter. Unless the frquency you are talking about is something else.

All of you's just go to Radio Shack and they will hook ya up w/a 12v adp. , 2-4 LED(ask for the deepest blue), and a 9v battery con. with on/off switch.

I asked what wavelenght is the light output and I got this answer:

"Unfortunately, we do not have this information available.

I used the 6' rope light, for $6.00 also at Lowes. and as Kcgor said it works great. I am not sure if it is too bright, but a dimmable extension cord can solve that problem also.
