Am I going a bit overboard by acclimating my DT's. Well not so much acclimating but letting the temp slowly warm up before dosing.

Wouldn't the stuff just die from the shock from going to the fridge to a warm tank?

Just wondering.

I just dump mine in as well. Make sure its well shaken up though as it does settle. I'd also dose in the fuge rather than in the main tank.

Yeah, I know everyone just dumps the stuff in their tanks, but what about my question? If they are going to die on impact what's the point in having live stuff?

They are unicellular algae. At first I'm sure they are a little unhappy but they aren't loosing any nutritional value. They rapidly adapt and adjust their water/gas balance and whatnot.

Thanks kmk. I was not sure of what the rapid change in temp. might have on the cultures.

I've read somewhere too that they can adjust to the new tempatures without dying, I usually target feed in my main tank and then dose some in my sump.

Premium Aquatics has DTs.
http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=PA&Category_Code=DTfood2

www.texascorals.com has 1/2 liter co-cultures which includes Nannochloripsis, a dinoflagellate that produces antibiotics, and another dino. that is really high in DHA. It's not as concentrated as DTs but it is only $4.25 per half liter.
