I have a rubbermaid-like tub in my sump with 5" of sand. I havesome rubble and small live rock pieces on top. I put it there for added biofilter surface. I only have 1"" of sand in my tank, and thought having the sandbed in the sump would be valuable. Whether this is true or not, I don't know, but I like it there.

Nothing but, heaters, skimmer and probes. Then I can siphon all the detritus that accumilates from the overflows/suspension.

Damn Damsels !!!

I get damsels donated, and I toss them in the sump. My sump is a 100g tank. Beyond baffles, it has a 30g tank in it with a 6" Sand bed and packed with Chaetomorpha.

My sump has also acquired about 10 blennies and gobies that keep slipping over the overflow.
