Get GE door and window SILICONE I, it is fine for working on your aquriums and is much less expensive than the aquarium silicones out there.

some GE types specifically say "not for aquariums" in the fine print. I used the ones that make no mention of danger to aquariums and have been fine.

Yeah, check it...but I believe all the Silicone "I"s are okay. The silicone "II"s have anti-bacterial stuff in them and say "nfa" on the back. Check it to be sure, but I believe that's what I remember.

correct. 1=100% silicone and safe. 2 = bad.

I think the "2" also says "100% silicone" as well. (even though it's not)

I use some silicon by boat safe. All it says is 100% silicon... Everything seems to be working fine here! :)

why risk it i'd rather use the stuff that says " NON-TOXIC SILICONE FOR USE IN BOTH FRESH AND SALT WATER "
at big al's . com it's only $3.79 for a full size calking tube
but that's just me ;-)

where do you find black silcone?

GE silicone 1 is hard to find in black, but it is made. Online was where I had to order it...HD doesnt have it. As for Big Al's Ill have to check that out...didnt know they carried the aquarium stuff in black.

To get into it more though...SIlicone1 is 100% silicone. After calling GE and talking with the tech dept. they said it was the same thing, just different package than aquarium stuff. Often this means it is cheaper to buy Silicone1 than pay the pet store some crazy price.

Thank you, i just got a "lee mar" tank and it is all black
silcone (very clean looking)...but now i need to drill and
add the corner overflows, i would rather finish the whole
tank in black..Greg
