Ok I'm now gathering info on what calcium reactor to buy or make. What do you use and why? My initial concerns are low ph or overdosing co2. Thank in advance for any info/ opinions.

Korallin C1502- it has an extra outlet you can open slightly to evacuate excess CO2- excess C02 dosing is not possible...
PH is a little lower in my tank-by about a point (8.3-8.2) but not having to dose and keeping a steady CA and ALk rate is worth the trade off and much healthier than having a little higher PH and wide swings in CA and alk

After looking at what is available in the aquarium market that is the exact model I have narrowed down to. I just wanted some other opinions. Anyone else have success with any others or models or maybe know a nice DIY unit?

They all work about the same. Some other ones that people have had success with include Precision Marine and MyReef units as well.

I don't know as much about them as I should but I narrowed it down to that same model myself. I understand you do not need a ph Controller with it but a monitor is nice to have. They say it's not necessary to drip Kalk with it, but some people with reactors continue to, anyone know why?
I plan to purchase mine around the end of Feb., I need to build cabinet to sit next to my tank for it first.

Regards

Jim

Thanks for the info everyone.

Jim, the research I have done leads me to believe that you would add kalk in addition to your reactor for 2 possible reasons
1 to raise ph
2 if you need even more calcium than your reactor is providing.
