I was just looking at my tank tonight and realized I must have a thing for Gobies ( Like I didnt know that already ). In my 75 gallon I have 4 fish 3 of which are gobies. So I thought, lets share some pictures of the ones in are tanks.

I will start
Here is my Watchman, Cryptocentrus cinctus, the current oldest fish in my system. Small in size, VERY big in personality.

Wind,

Have you looked at the Rainfords (aka Courtjester) Goby? They sift the sand all day long and are very attractive looking. They get to be about three inches.

I wasn't expecting to get this little guy, but he showed off pretty well at the LFS so I got him. He acclimated well, I left the lights off for two hours, then turned them on and he immediately started sifting through the sand. I really enjoy these guys. Anyone else like them?

i have three banded gobies in my tank(lfs guy said they liked to school) which they do, my question is has anyone had succes pairing a gobie and shrimp that were purchased seperately? and since i had three, if i were to add the apropriate shrimp would the shrimp only bond with one gobie or would he interact with all three? would the gobies fight over him? Thanks Mike

EvilMel

So I have had great success with getting a separately purchased shrimp and goby to pair.

I fyou have more than one fish that schools together, it is possible for more than one of them to pair with the shrimp. I once had two "black ray" shrimp gobies paired with one randall's shrimp. It was awesome. One would sit at one entrance to the burrow and the other would sit at the other entrance. Really cool.

Til I lost one of the fish in a move.

Gcarroll, does that Hector's goby sift sand to the point where it clouds your water any? I had a yellowheaded jawfish that dug so much that my water was always cloudy, and now that he's gone I'm weary about anything that sifts sand.

I've never had any problems with green clown goby, yellow watchman goby, green banded gobies (cutest gobies ever) jumping out.

But I have had problems with neon gobies. Two jumped out of this tiny tank I had at school that was actually covered except for this one little hole. Well after having them for a few months, both jumped out within a week. Very odd.

In my 135 I have never had neon gobies jump out and it's completely open topped.

So I really think most fish have the potential to jump out, but I have never experienced any of the fish I mentioned first jumping out.

Not at all. I have found that with sand sifting gobies, once the build there burrow there is not the major dust storms that cloudy the tank. My gobies definitly kick some minute sand into the water colomn but they aslo clean up the sand, king of like gravel vaccuming all day every day. I have a large tank so I take the good with the bad.

Why? Have you seen them nip at them, or is it just that they perch in them? My green clown goby spends quite a bit of time between my clam and the sps's, they don't seem to mind much at all althought the commencial crabs in the sps simply hate him.
