Kalkwasser drip is very common and I used to use it all the time. I am now using Liquid aragonite a diravitive of aragonitic calcium. That means valuable trace elements come along for the ride and are again available for new coral growth. Liquid aragonite will not affect PH and you can dose large amounts rapidly.

It is developed by Coral Reef Research Inc. in Tamarac Fl. One 16oz bottle cost me 10 bucks. Thats enough to bring twenty gallons of RO water to 440 ppm. I would say it to be effective for smaller tanks because it is pricey. I use it in when kalk drips don't add enough or am worried about PH getting too high. I never exceed the one tablespoon per gallon rule when it comes to kalk drips from fear of PH swings. I guess I could add some vineger, but feel thats too much chemistry lab stuff for my taste and requires more testing.
