Should i use my Canister?

I have a 30 gallon tank that is fully established with live rock, sand bed, and a skimmer. Should i continue to use my magnum canister filter or will it just lead to bad things???

I keep SPS and softies in the same tank. I use a canister filter to run carbon. It keeps the chemical warfare down and polishes the water.

I would run the canister filter with carbon is your magnum a (HOT) magnum. THose are my favorite we run 2 on our 120 just for water movement, carbon and they hook to a gravel vac. very handy.

I like running a canister for a few days once or twice a month just to clean up the water some. I see a huge visible difference, in the corals and the clarity .

I run a magnum fulltime with carbon. Works great. Tough little filters. I also use it one time a month with the micron sleeve that comes with it to clean the tank. I use it to blow the dust off the rocks and polish the water.
