View Full Version : Help! Is this thing eating my coral?

Is this thing eating my new coral? It looks like a small serpant star maybe, but hitch hiked in on this coral. It's wrapped around it pretty good and I don't know if I should leave it. I don't want anything in there that is going to cause damage.

It looks like it could just be a small serpent star, but to be on the safe side, why don't you post this under Dr. Ron's Forum for a better identification.

My brain is working real well this morning, but I do remember reading about some type of star that multiplies quickly and will "strangle" corals.

It looks like a harmless brittle star to me. I have two that have lived on a gorgonian for almost two years. They have never caused any problems...

I've got a million of those brittle stars. All different colors and sizes. I have never had them cause any problems of any kind and I can not remember any coral loses. I think they are very cool to watch.

thanks for the input...I'll just keep an eye on them then, but I won't stress about it.
