I recently switched to 250s from 175s I have had some problems with the orange montipora. It has a white film on the top of its branches. I thought that it had a bacterial infection so I fragged it to save what is left and gave some to a friend. The peices that I fragged are doing well in his tank and in mine. I am wondering if I should move the whole colony? Has anyone else had this problem? Also my acros that are the same distance from the bulbs are doing fine.

you should have acclimated them. monti's are sensitive to light changes while acros want as much light as possible.

The coral should recover quickly. It's not the same as RTN, etc. I burned a whole bunch of acros last year by replacing 250W bulbs, and the burned parts were quickly covered with new tissue.

I moved the peices down a few more inches and will wait and see. My brown monti has not shown any signs of being burnt and they are at the same level.
