I have a frogspawn with 4 colonies on it 2 on one side and 2 on the other, for the first week they were all opened up and looking great, the passt 3 or 4 days one side seems to be not open as much (about 1/2 way) and is looking a little pale compaired to the other side. Is this something to be concerned about? Is there something I should do?

thanks

Ray,
What is your flow like? If it is the same, could something be nipping the coral??

mine mysteriously died in the last 2 days. Was fine for about 8 months then gone...maybe it is a bad season for them!

I think the flow is pretty close, I will move the PH a little and see if that helps

thanks

I just relized I did change around my PHs the begining of the week so that could be it.

Well I wanted to drag this back up. It looks like both of the colonies on that side are splitting, now I am not sure because I have never seen anything split so I could be wrong. It is hard to see but if I can get a clear shot I will snap a pic. hopfully I will have 6 instead of 4 :)

I've noticed that LPS heads will bleach individually. If one particular head is unhappy, it will bleach, while other, happier heads may remain unaffected. When I had to wait a few days for a replacement MH bulb for my basement Q tank that held a massive Euphyllia sp., I used PC replacement lights, and some heads started to bleach. They have since been nursed back to health, and also split. If I am not mistaken, some polyps may split as a response to stress. Make sure your flow and lighting is adequate,

Funny I had a frogspawn polyp bail yesterday on one of the stalks that has been in the same place for 1,1/2 years. Also In Robbots tank his star polyps retracted the other day and the same day so did mine.

Corals must know something we don't

Hey stang once they grow some and I learn how to frag them I will set you up with one to replace that skeleton
