Hi,

i think my yellow tang have some problem at edges of its fins.
It ates very well (really gluttonous fish), and seems happy...

How long have you had the tang and how long has it shown the fin issues?

How large is the tank, what are the other inhabitants and what are your water parameters?

i have had this yellow tang since january 14 (16 days), it's fins are bad for about 1 week...
The tank is 45 gallon (i know the tank is too small for a tang, but i am setting up an 240 gallon, tang will move to 240g at the end of february)...

Other inhabitants are:
A pair of red tomato clown (Amphiprion frenatus)
2 tomato anemone (Actinia equina)
M size Toadstoal leather coral (Sarcophyton sp.)
A large colony of Ricordea sp.
a small colony of mushroom (Actinodiscus sp)
small colony of green buyyon polyps and brown button polyps
2 cleaner shrimps (Lysmata amboinensis)
1 percula clown (Amphiprion percula)
2 urchin (about 1.4 inch diameter)
8-10 hermit crab
a few snails

nitrate is below 15 mg/l, nitrite and amonia 0

It could be a viral or bacterial infection, possibly caused by stress.

What is the pH, temperature and specific gravity?

pH: 8.3
Temperature: 78.
sg: 1,023-1,024

ps: my other fishes are healthy

I still believe it is stress. Possibily from the size of the tank.

OK tank is happy as other fish are OK. Maybe injury to tang, any aggresion from tomatos? Watch very carefully for progresion of infection and treat with antibiotic bath or Q tank treatment with antibiotics.

The yellow is still same, the wounds or infection still the same size, and still ates well. There is no aggression from tomatos, moreover yellow isaggressive to tomatos.

One option is to move it to a treatment tank and treat with antibiotics, although the condition might reappear when the fish is moved back.
