When you receive a new coral, does it go right in your reef, or do you quarantine it. If you do QT, please mention how long, also if you do any special dip.

I have never qt'd my corals. Luckily I've never had any problems as of yet. I'm starting to see the benefit of it though, along with lugols dips, etc. Something I'm looking into.

I don't quarantine new corals but do add 2 drops of Salifert Flatworm eXit to the shipping water. After a few minutes, I remove the coral from the shipping water and add to the display tank.

I'm curious too. Most of the folks at the LFS don't think much of QTing, but after reading up on some of the horror stories here, I'll defintely do that for any fish I add!

However, for Coral, is it needed, and if so, does QT coral require massive amount$ of light$?

I never qt coral.

I put the new coral with its "bag" water in a container and add small amounts of my system water over a period of like an hour.

Then I pull the coral out of that water and put it in the system.
The bag water gets tossed.
