Very nice! Gotta love it when you provide a good enough environment for them to reproduce in!

I just found a baby snail in my tank too, though its too small for my digital camera to focus on. I think its an honor, and shows that things are going well in a tank.

Keep it up!!!

But What I wonder is....

Quote from Dr Ron's forum

I dont have this type snail adult in my tank, only turbos. I have baby turbos and they look like the parent cept smaller. These are different. I have seen them in others tanks but I havent added any LR or anything for over 3 months and that was just sps corals. How could I have babys when there are no adults. Where could the eggs have come from, or do these snails lay eggs? I counted 11 within a 3 in place on the glass. They are almost 1/4 in long. My CC substrate is pieces of 1/16in. to 1/8in. for a size reference.

I too have baby snails. Turbo snails. Makes you feel good when things reproduce in your tank.

I've got more snails in my tank than I wanted :). Well, that's maybe half true.

I've got baby ceriths, and astreas. I've got multiplying stomatellas, and several very small snails that are growing that I can't identify. I've also got at least one species of predatory snail, and I may have spotted another last night. They only feed on other, young snails (near as I can tell from watching them for long periods), so I haven't banished them yet. Last night I also noticed that I've got an exploding limpet population. They seem to not eat the coraline (they aren't keyholes), so they get to stay too. The most facinating thing I've found is I've seen some very small snails that seem to attack my bubble algae (I've got a little problem with that stuff  . I've seen them perched on the bubbles, and the bubble will be deflated the next day. I'm trying to watch these, and I'll try to isolate a few if I find that this is the case. I'd love to be right on this one. :D

ReefHawk,

Lately I have been seeing a pair of snails that have an identical tiny shell as the picture you provided BUT their shell is black and white poka dotted! It is true, and I swear I didn't take acid or eat any magic mushrooms that night! I don't know where they came from, but they sure are cute. Maybe I'll get a picture next time I see them.

Oh, and did you ever see this snail that I found in my reef tank? It looks like a regular stomatella but it's foot is bright yellow! I have never seen it in any other than either.

Reefhawk & ReefDream,
IMHO looks like you both have baby cerith snails. I have those in my tank as well both from the pics and ReefDream's description.
