Zoo Propagation question...

I want to see if im on to something here, and see if anyone else has had the same success. It seems to me as if my zoo's spread and grow a lot more when they are on smooth rocks or plugs... a while bag I purchased an order of zoo's and some came on smooth oyter shells, and others were on more jagged rocks. All the zoo's on the oyster shells are taking off like crazy! where as the others are no where close to growing and spreading the same... Any input?

Thats a good queston. I could see how it would be easier for them to spread on a smooth surface over a rougher surface.
