Have you tried Walmart? They had some in the Tewkbury store cheap. They are selling them as "storage" bins.

target is having a ridiculous sale on rubbermaid tubs... some looking in the size of 50g. Since i have a small tank, I didnt look at the 50s, but I got a 20Gal tub for like 4.00$

FYI, one thing to remember is that the rubbermaid stock tanks are made to hold liquid - the big rubbermaid storage bins aren't, and they'll bow out when they're filled with water. You may want to brace them somehow to relieve some of the strain on their sides if you use the storage bins.

Jumping in, but what do you guys use to store salt water and Di water in long term. I looking to set up some stuff in the basement with spigets and just fill up 5 gallons at a time.

Do the stock tanks have covers?

Thanks for the replies. I checked out the local Walmart with no luck. I'll give some local feed supply stores a call before trecking down to RI.

Aneille I bought a rubbermaid garbage can and threw a pump in there, worked very well.

I bought my rubermaid stock tank 150 at Agway ($130). Most feed stores stock them this time of year. (guess winter is hard on them around the barn)

Yeah, I just found out the hard way about those storage bins. I got my 50g bin filled up halfway and it started snapping at the seams out front.
Ran out to Agway in Littleton, MA and bought a Rubbermaid 100g water trough. That thing is seriously sturdy.
Good thing tstone tipped me off about the place in Littleton last month.

Moe, how much was the 100g? I have a 40g storage bin - double sided - 2 bins in one, that has been working. But I'm thinking of upgrading to something sturdier.

50g trough was 70 bucks. 100g trough was only 80 bucks. Figured for only 10 dollars more I get double the size, so I went w/ the 100g. Nice sturdy trough that already has a bulkhead. Not as heavy as I expected - I was able to carry it alone from the back of my pickup to the basement.

Nice, I'll have to add one to my shopping list, which is getting longer instead of shorter

Just to follow up:

I called around and most feed stores do carry them. Prices seem to be consistent. If your in the market check the yellow pages for the nearest feed / farm supply store.

On my way to pick up a 50 and a 70 (or 100).

Thanks again for the help.

Moe, do you have the measurements of that 100g tub? I'm going to add one in the future, but building stand for a 75g fuge/frag in the basement & want to make sure I have enough height to slide one partially under (and sticking out), and width to place supports far enough apart
Thanx

OK, found a link: 52" long, 31" deep -top to bottom, and 25" front to back...?? Can someone confirm that?

The tank will be installed perpindicular to the 75g stand. The 75g stand will actually just be an 8' long shelf built against one wall.
I need to leave 26-27" of clearance between legs to be able to slide this in

Has anyone looked at the 50g model 4243?, 12" deep, 52" long, interesting tank....

Moe,

I seem to remember reading that the bulkhead on those trophs are notorious for leaking and should be replaced with a studier one if possible. Might want to do a search on RC to be sure

Target is having a sale on Rubermaid bins.

Rubbermaid doesnt compare to a stock tank. I have a double layered 40g that is bowing when filling up. Before boxing it in I'd rather replace it
2 minutes my horse for 2 minutes....wheres my time machine
I guess I snagged the last 55g tank from you.....

It is a circular tub around 3 feet in diameter at the top
and 2.5 feet at the bottom. It is made of the tough plastic
that the bigger tubs are made of....

Oh yeah....an I paid $150.00 for it at the Rockn' Crab only to decide that it was too small for a sump for my 300.

One more thing....I should have said "stock tank" instead of
"bin" since that is what it is...a heavy stock tank, not a flimsy bin
