I've been hand feeding my BTA with silver sides. Most days he eats and thats that, however, somedays I will feed him, over the next couple hours he will swallow it, then the next morning I find the silverside all mushy and half digested laying next to the BTA. Is this normal? Am I over-feeding?

How often do you feed? If you are feeding everyday then you are feeding to much. They only need to be feed every 3 days or so, many people dont feed them at all. But feeding does help in there growth

You're definitely overfeeding him. I feed mine twice per week.

alde, I used to live in Bremerton (15 years ago). I loved it there.

Realize that BTAs are filter feeders, so not feeding them at all is also an option. I feed mine about every 14-21 days, just to limit it's size over time.

i have a few anm. that eat fomula 1 & 2 pellets...and the
love them...i have seen 1 eat a whole yellow tang...
and the nxt day it spit all the bones out, w/ some
other nasty stuff...so poss the bta is disolving the
meat off of the silver sides and spitting out the bones...

I've had my BTA for a few months...it was bleached pretty bad when I got it. I feed it at least every 3 days, sometimes every day. It's starting to darken nicely now. I usually alternate between krill soaked in zoe and silversides.
