I was helping my uncle tear down his 20yr old cichlid tank last week and the back of the background had a saltwater tank on it. The background was as old as the tank. The tank on the background was filled with softies and mushrooms, it had a CC substrate.

I know some people here on RC kept saltwater in the early days of this hobby. Does anyone have pictures of tanks from the 60s, 70s, 80s and before that?

I don't have any pictures, but my aunt tried saltwater in the 70's in a 55 gallon tank. She killed everything. Anemones, fish, coral...you name it. She hates my tank, very jealous. I bug her everytime she's at my house to go check it out. Even some of my friends are jealous, my coraline algae is to die for!!! Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk!

Yeah my dads uncle was telling me about a SW tank he set up in the late 70s. An anemone attached to a heater, which then exploded releasing copper and dead anemone liquid(?) into the tank killing everything.
