Best X-Box games?

I bought an X-Box last weekend for my daughter...and myself.:D I've played a few games at a friends, but I really haven't played many video games since I wasted thousands on the late, great Sega Saturn. Madden 2004 is definitely on my list as I have it on PC and I bought Links 2004 today which is pretty cool to say the least. Is NFL Fever worth a look at? Also what are some of the best war games out there? I told my inlaws to get me Counter Strike because of the same friend who recommended it. I rented GTA Vice City and NFL Blitz last night and I thought they both were terrible. Any thoughts would be appreciated...Thanks

RPG : Shenmue2, Star Wars KOTOR, Deus Ex2 so far

Racers: NFS Underground, PG2

FPS: Halo, CounterStrike, Unreal Championship, R6, Ghost Recon

3rd P: Crimson Skies, The Hobbit, Baldur's Gate DA, Splinter Cell

Sports: NHL Hitz (the first one), Fever, Madden, Championship Tennis, SSX3

Fighters: Soul Caliber2, DOA3

Platformer: Voodoo Vince

I got my XBox about 4 months ago. I've only played a few games, but so far, Halo is my favorite (play legendary, the hardest)
SSXTrickey is also very kewl. Play the old one then get the new one.
I also thought NFL Blitz was horrible. I had Madden through one season, then lost it somehow. I really liked the franchise mode on that.

Must haves? Halo, MW, ESPN Football (More realistic than Madden imo), GTA double pack, PGR2, and RS:3 (CS primarily used for online play). I hear TopSpin is pretty good as far as tennis is concerned along with fifa 2004 :P

Future games to get: Ninja Gaiden, Halo 2, Fable, BC...can't remember the others >.<'

Medal of Honor - Allied Assault - Only 15.00 at Target - worth it.
EA Tiger Woods Golf- Great when 4 people play

Halo is an amazing game, and the price just dropped.
The new Medal of Honor game looks very good, and Allied Assault was fun.
I thought Freedom Fighters was a fun game.

Halo rocks, The Hobbit is outstanding in a Zelda kind of way. I love madden, Rainbow six is a good fps.

Yes and the Tommy drive caused it so I switched out for a Sammy 616t (soon to be modded altogether).

i bought my xbox from the original "batch" a couple years ago and it would freeze on games only made by microsoft. there was a problem with the dvd player they were using at the time and have since replaced, not sure when though. i eventually bought a new xbox and this one works no problem no matter who makes the game.

I got my xbox almost right away when they came out. But I have never had any games lock up. However The Thin Red Line doesnt have any sound when I try to watch it. Which sucks.

All games are good On X box,I have the PS2 and Gamecube...One rule of thumb is if they sell any games for all 3 systems Buy it for the X box First !

Second I Only Buy Titles that are made for the System:Example Socom and Socom2 only made for the PS2 ....Mario,Zelda ets..only made for the Gamecube...


CAn wait for Halo2 if you didn't pre-order it ..you'll never get it..

I heard the Game Will sell out in hours...

And it will be on X box Live...

My xbox has frozen twice. Both times I was anle to turn it off/on and load the last saved game. I've had it for a year or two so it's not a problem. My favorite games are:

Dead to Rights (wow)

NFL Fever 2004 (better than Madden IMO)

Thanks for all the suggestions! I've played several rounds of Links 2004 tonight and I really like the game. A couple of you mentioned you like Espn and NFL Fever better than Madden. Anyone else have opinions on the football games? I was at a game store over the weekend and they had numerous used copies of NFL Fever and none of the others so I kinda figured it wasn't very good. I played the sample of Project Gotham Racing 2 and I thought it was pretty cool. I'll probably add that to my X-mas list for people.

sounds like a glitch in the disk copy- I just got GTA3/Vice City dual package and the GTA3 disk wont load at all.

I bought True Crime since it souded like a good game. I should have rented it first, it seems kinda boring. Maybe it will grow on me.

In true crime you can make vehicles explode if you shoot them in the gas tank while you are driving, true crime reminds me kinda of an arcade game.

thats why i got rid of my ps2 and game cube... I was buying only xbox games..:D

Halo is kindof a futuristic first person shooter with creatures that you have to kill and such, the graphics are very nice.

Yeah halo is just a fps. Like Half Life, or Unreal, it has a very good storyline, great graphics. If you own an xbox, enjoy fps's, and don't own halo is a shame.

Even though it isnt setup for xbox live, there is multiplayer modes that are very fun. Playing split screen, and system link.

There's no game similar to zelda that I am aware of, at least no good one lol. The best epic adventure game to date (already mentioned) that you cannot miss: Morrowind GOTY edition.

Project Gotham 2 is awesome. The Live portion is very nice too. To the people that have had problems with GTA3, are these xboxes the first batches of them or are they fairly new? I have read that older xboxes used a different cd drive in them and are showing problems with that game and others. I have a problem with top spin freezing on me. Very aggravating.

Not a EA fan for that.

I have an older xbox. I got it about 2 weeks after it came out. Never had any problem with the gta box set. It does get pretty warm tho after 3 or 4 hours of playing a game or dvd's.

Yeah, mine gets hot too. It is in a cabinet with the PS2, gamecube and dreamcast so all added together gets quite warm.

Crimson skies is sweet...kinda like piolet wings flight style game, not cartoons though, serious adult type fighting jet game, fun to play though.

ESPN football is far better than madden, its hard though!

There are two reasons I bought Sega ESPN over madden. #1 is online. You can't do it with EA on the xbox. #2 I think ESPN is better.
