BTA Question

I have had my white BTA for nearly 2 months now and it seems to come out mainly at night. Is this normal? Usually it is 1/2 to all the way closed until about 5 at night then it will open up to about 1/2 way, but after the lights go out it comes out a lot more. So far I have tried him under reduced lighting, reduced flow, reduced flow and reduced lighting but nothing seems to help him come out during the day. He moved around for about the first 2 weeks that we had him, but since then he has found a little cave to put his base in and has been content.

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0
PH - 8.1
Calcium - 450 - 500 ppm
