I was wondering if you experts could identify my clown so that i know for sure because i am thinking about getting another and setting up a tank for them and try to breed them. Let me know if you need a better picture. It was labeled as a Percula but who knows what the fish store actually got
thanks

Without a better shot of the eyes, I would give you a “less than positive ID of A. ocellaris. But from the picture it might be an A. percula too. Get a good, clear close shot showing the eyes of the fish from the side and I will be able to firm that ID up for you.

i think that it is a A. ocellaris from some of the research but i will try get a good close picture of the eyes. It said it was tank raised so i hope that it is not a hybrid. ;)
thanks again

it sure looks like a.ocellaris only because it has a higher dorsal fin then a percula.but if you have a better picture im sure someone could give you a 100% id

The whole of the fish looks like A. ocellaris, however it has the eyes of A. percula.

How big is this fish? I have seen quite a few small A. ocellaris that do not have a muddy outer ring, but they have all been quite small <1".

so do you think that it is a hybrid? And if so should i not breed it with any other clownfish or should i find a pair somewhere else
thanks

All things considered, no I do not think it is a hybrid. I think a closer, better picture of the eyes would show the muddy outer ring of an A. ocellaris.
