I just went today and bought an alk. and calcium test kits. The lfs had me completely lost before I left. I figured out the alk test kit fairly easy and I'm good with a 4.50 but when I started on the calcium test kit that is when the problem started. I followed the instructions but it hasn't turned blue yet after 50 drops. What now?

Here is what the lfs wrote down on a card to help me. yeah right!

I retested again after I added 3 ounces of Liquid Aragonite. I got 25 drops so that would mean I'm off 80mg = 340mg. I added 2 more ounces of Liquid Aragonite which the directions show 1 ounce = 60ppm per 10gals so I should be close. I hate math.:)

Ugghh... Too much math. I agree with Nek, try Salifert from one of the online vendors -much easier.

Hello,

I have a SeaChem calcium test kit. I believe the kit is many years old. To make a long story short, the readings are a bit off. However, it comes with reference water with 425mg/L calcium. Using that as reference makes the kit reliable again. :-)
