Howdy Neighbors,

Actually you might want to hang on to those prefilters . Depending on what you got in the tank . I've got shrimp and snails , and some fish too. If you use the prefilters on the heads then then your critters may eat off them snacking on left overs . that's what my cleaner shrimp do all the time and my turbos sweep the sponge stuff as well . Another benefit is if the current is strong and a fish is weak the sponge will diffuse it enough
so that the fish won't stick to it if it gets to close I clean mine from time to time so as not to create nitrate problems just my 2 cents.

I just picked up a Auaclear (hagen) 402 PH. and also picked up the pre-filter cause I just couldn't bare it if I found something sucked into it. I have a tomato clown (named Paddy) that likes to sleep near the surface, and I would not be able to sleep myself with a PH with an open end near by. :(
