I was looking through the tank gallery and I saw a close-up of someone's ANGLER! And I didn't know you could even KEEP that fish! Is there a section around here about Anglers?

How big a tank would you NEED for that anyway? O_O

do a search for anglers, I don't know too much but I don't think you need a huge set up. Probably a 55gal at least. They don't really swim around more like walk. Can be hard to feed so I've heard. Very interesting creatures, my LFS has a small black one that I might just pick up. let me know what you find out

Toki,

First off,

I would suggest doing a searches both on "angler" and "frogfish" here on RC.

I have two of these fish (not in the same tank). They have pretty specialized needs and are really best kept in species specific tanks. To keep a Wartskin Frogfish (Antennarius maculatus) or the Painted Frogfish (Antennarius pictus), a 20-gallon tank might be just fine (accomodating their max 4" size), whereas some of the others can reach football size and at least a 40-50 gallon tank would be required. While some frogfish may be weaned to accepting frozen foods, you'd need to be prepared to feed live foods (small, gut-loaded saltwater fish, Mollies and crusteaceans) in the beginning for most. The mouth of the frogfish is deceptively large and they can and will ingest any fish or crustacean their own size and smaller. They may even take on something larger than them and can die in the process. I think they are a fascinating fish if you are prepared to meet their specialized needs.
