I just purchased about 50# of LR from the lfs and got a few snails on the rock too. I want to find out if they will survive the tank cycling ? Just curious. :)

They should do fine.

Snails (and most inverts) are fairly sensitive to ammonia and nitrite. If you want to make sure they survive the cycle I would recommend keeping a close eye on your ammonia levels and doing water changes if they get very high.

brianlena2000 is correct. Snails can die also if a cycle is strong. Is that 50lbs of rock going into that 125G tank? Is it brand new or is there other rock in there?

It is the only LR in the tank at the moment - it is from an established tank. So far, everything has been up and running for two days now.
I will keep close tabs on the ammonia, etc. and hopefully try to minimize the spikes if at all possible.
Its really cool - I sat looking at the rock as I was placing it around the tank - there is so much life on it !! I must have counted about 20 tiny star fish !!! :D I hope that they don't all die in the cycle...
