question about amonia spike

i have had my tank on the go for a few months now, and have been introducing items slowly. i have a 20 gallon tanks and have been putting live rock in about 5lbs at a time. i now have 20 lbs in and have not seen a huge spike in amonia or nitrite. ( the highest amonia got was .5 ppm ) everyhing is now at zero again. is it safe to put snails or clown fish in yet?

If it's been al least two weks since your last rock addition, I's say if safe to put in some snails. Wait about 2 more weeks for the clowns. I know it's hard to do, but waiting is better than starting over.
