Hello,

I'm a total newbie when it comes to hard corels. Not even sure if this one is SPS.

Anyhow, do they like to be hit with constant water current?

Thanks,

Looks like a (Montipora digitata) to me. I'd give it a nice medium current and medium/high lighting. Make sure not to place it in direct water flow though, as well as other corals.

Looks like a tree sponge to me....may be wrong but I have one just like it in my tank..a real pretty orange-red.

Thanks dudes,

Reason why I am asking about constant water flow is that a tiny part of it is getting hit by it. Doesn't look too intense. I'll see how it goes.

BTW, my friend and I did a tank move today. I told him to place the hard coral at the back of the tank (it's attached to a big piece of live rock). The water was quite murky as I was putting more live rock into the tank. When the water cleared up, I was wondering where did the SPS go? Well, I moved some live rock around and noticed that I fragged the SPS into 5 pieces. ARrgh!!

Don't get frustrated about fragging your Monti into 5 pieces, be happy.:D Just glue those pieces to different rubble and place it in different areas of your tank and watch them grow out. Then you can get into trading frags for more frags. It can get contagious. You may want to check out the SPS Forum (http://reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=73) for more info on how to get these guys growing like weeds.;)
