Carib Sea and play sand

should i go with all carib sea (more expensive) or should i add a 1 inch layer of play sand then add a inch of carib sea white sand? ir will it all mix up and look ugly. also is fine lightweight sand better or grainier sand better? my LFS says play sand will get too compact and hard for stuff to burrow and move it around. and he doesnt recomend doing the play sand and carib sea mix.

Depends on the type of playsand you can get. If you are on the east coast and can get southdown I would go with that since it is probably from the same source as the carib sea. If not I would go with all carib sea. I wouldn't risk adding unknown play sand to your tank just to save a little money up front when it might cost you a lot of money later on.
