I do what Y-Tang does, but I run mine in the rise cycle only. Works great.

When I use them, I wash them on rinse only and put them in my wife's little washing bag that she uses for her underwear and bras so that they don't get all tangled up. You should have seen her reaction the first time she figured out what I was doing. She went out and bought a new one and told me I could have the old one.:D

I assume you mean the bags people use for hold carbon?

What do you all use for these? There has to be a better place to buy them than the LFS for $$$$.

No, the bags we are talking about are micron filter bags that mechanically filter out the free floating junk in the water.

I clean mine the same way as Y-Tang and it does work great. Do you guys use the filter bags 24/7? If so, how often do you clean them?

24/7 clean after 72 hours of use.

Interesting. I only use mine when I clean the tank. My concern using the filter 24/7 is an increase in nitrates. I suppose if you keep up with changing them this won't be much of an issue.

in 72 hours the bacteria is just starting to grow.

Never use detergent. I only use bleach and then do an extra rinse. Then I let them air dry for a few days. Any lingering bleach will evaporate.

I refrase my sentence...
Sometimes detergent acumulates in the interior parts of a washing machine, so are you guys not afraid of washing your socks in the washing machine?

No. :D

I use the same method listed above, bleach and run through the normal cycle.
