So we are allowed to protect ourselves from a thing that might hit us from deep space but not a local bully. What do you think the odds are for each type of event to occur. I would side on that there is a much great chance of a nuke launch in the next 20 year than an asteroid hitting us.
It kind of like a man trying to protect himself from lighting strike while his neighbor is trying to build the worlds largest bomb.
