Hi all,

I just set up a quarantine tank for a newly purchased fish. The pet store suggested that I add a copper based "anti-ich" additive to the quarantine tank just to be sure he does not harbor the parasite and I've done that. The question is, can I use my test kit vials to test both my main tank and the quarantine tank without contaminating my main tank with copper?

Thanks in advance

I dont see why not, I always wash out my test vials after I use them with ro water, so it should not make any diffrent. IMO i would not have put any copper in the QT, yes you should put your new fish in their but you dont treat him and less the fish has actually got ICH, why stress the fish with chemicals if he is find.
and now you cant only use the QT for fish.
if you want to add chemicals you should use a small hospital tank IMO not a QT. a good QT can help you out in emergencys for not just fish.
All the best cisco
