I have my tank up now for about 6 weeks and just added some turbo,nass... snails and redleg crabs.
question. when looking inside my tank from the side i noticed all kinds of stuff floating in the water. it looks like all the stuff that the snails and stuff are cleaning of the rocks. is this normal or should the water be clear with nothing floating in the water except for a few things once and a while.

just curious,
i do not use any kind of sponges or filters on my tank see pics of my setup if intrerested.

its not real bad, but on my other tank it is not that way.

If you can't see it from a two or three feet away I wouldn't worry about it.
Six weeks isn't very long for a new tank to mature so it might just go away on it's own.
Are you running a skimmer? A skimmer should pull some of it out.
I have to assume that since this is posted on the reef forum that the tank will be a reef, so I will add that as the tank matures you will have floaties come and go as pods multiply and other critters spawn and grow in the tank, Think of it as coral food.

You could try to run a micron filter now but I don't recomend it when the tank has corals in it for the same reason as stated above, it's good for the corals.
