View Full Version : Clown bit of internal piece of Mushroom

Yesterday I noticed that one of my green hairy mushrooms had a long (@3inches) thin red thread with a forked tip coming out of its mouth.

Just as I was trying to get a better look at this my clownfish swam up and bite it off and then spit it out.

What was the long thin thread?

Will the mushroom survive?

Will the mushroom regenerate another?

Thanks,

Brian

My experience is that if the thread was not white you will be fine.

It was probably releasing some zooxanthellae or waste.

Troy:

I know what you are talking about. They were not the white threads. This thead was several times thicker, almost as thick as pencil lead in a pencil.

Katar:

Not sure about the zooxanthellae or waste. The thread looked like it was an internal part of the mushroom.

Anyone else have an opinion

Thnks,

Brian
