I was wondering if anyone had ever owned a Wart-Skinned Angler, and if they had any tips?

Alec119,
I just acquired my first wartskin 2 weeks ago and he is doing wonderful. The second day I had him eating frozen. I had a lionfish for 2 year and just lost him so after getting over his loss, I decided to try the wartskin and I am glad I did. This is a great little fish. I did do a lot of research before I ordered him so I think I was well prepared.

The only tip on anglers is to be VERY careful on selecting tankmates, making most at least twice its size.....they can and will eat fish their own size without hesitation, including venemous species like dwarf lionfish.

Hey thanks,
Most of his tank mates are larger than he is like a puffer and also a tang, they are doing very well, also I am feeding the Wartskinned damsels, the only problem is the damsels get smart after a couple of days so his Angler charm doesn't work too well. He is an awsome orange color, and I think I got a good deal on him. But I did have one question regarding them... Do they ever have a problem hitting their face up against the glass, and rubbing their skin raw??? I seem to be having trouble with that.

Usually, it's a sigh they can't find a suitable fishing site with enough cover to suit them.
As to his orange color, unless you add ornaments, etc. of similar color it will probably soon change to a mustardy yellowish-brown, the more usual color.

Do you have any suggestions that could possibly help me give him a suitable spot, I thought I had some good spots set for him, but I also have only a 30 gallon. But I hopefully am moving up to a 55 gallon. So maybe I could set it up a little better for him so he can rest in a certain spot.
I also am wondering what I could use as an ordamental peice to keep his really cool color.

Artificial coral (usually fibreglass) looks the best, but it's usually fairly expensive.
Many pet shops carry plastic plants in brighter colors, and while they really stick out in a freshwater tank, many people don't realize green is the rarest color in marine algaes, with many red, yellow, orange, brown, maroon and even white being very common, so any of these will often serve the purpose.
Your angler may may well gravitate towards something its own color, apparently aware that it blends in easier and saves the month long process of changing!**grin**

i have a neon yellow wartskin its about three inches and i have it in a gerbil ball. lol yeah its in timeout. it ate my sister maroon clown. which is four inches long. mine i feed it freshwater molies and krill the moli's b/c they can convert to salt so that way they wont die like goldfish. mine will follow me and one of my cats around the tank. also the temp you have ur tank at will affect its color. and most breeders will paint the outside of thier angler holding tanks a bright color to turn them that color. so most change. mine starte dout as black and turned at really bright yellow.

You know, painting the back red, yellow or red is a GREAT idea for color change, and one I've never heard (for that reason anyways!)
I might just have to give that one a try....thanks!
