I made the mistake of purchasing this fish. Any suggestions as to how I can keep it alive?
LFS said he would eat anything and I did not have my reef fish book to get a second opinion.
Thanks,
Joe

Oxymonacanthus Longirostris I assume.
By now I guess you know they are an obligate coral polyp eater.
If I were in your shoes, I would bring in a book from a reputable source, or a page from wet web media or something confirming the diet of this fish and ask to return it. They should not go uncorrected as a mistake like this cost a poor fish any chance at life.
BUT, having said that I know my Dad kept two back in the 80's for a while and got at least one to eat live brine shrimp, although I was told they eventually withered and died. So I guess even if you can get it to take other food it probably won't be good enough without the polyps.
Such a shame as they are beautiful
