Does anyone have any information on this fish? Is it basically another tang as far as requirements go? Haven't been able to find any literature. I am particularly interested in their fullgrown size and tank requirements. Thanks in advance.

Acanthurus xanthopterus and Acanthurus dussumieri are similar species.

Here is a slightly better pic:

WOW! Nice looking fish. I have never heard of those before. Since it's an acanthurus I wouldn't be surprised if it's a little delicate though.

Try refering to Bob Fenner's wetwebmedia.com - he has a plethora of information regarding fish compatability, suitability and long term aquarium success. All the specimens of Dussamer's I have seen (only 2!) have been very large, making them suitable for only the truly large systems.

There was one at a LFS here. It is currently about 5" long, but is FAT. That leads me to believe this thing will grow huge when provided with some room. Any others?

Dendronepthya,
I am almost certain (90%) that the LFS had one for nearly a year in their 650 gallon tank. The fish I'm thinking off was nearly eight or nine inches long and happily ate flake food when it wasn't picking at the live rock. It was a robust fish that I have a hard time imagining in anything less than a 300 gallon tank (as an adult). I'll double check on the species of the tang with the store owner.
