Hi all,
Finding thriving hitchhikers on live rock is so exciting! About a month and a half ago I bought a yellow zoanthid colony rock and there are some strange looking corals(?) growing among the polyps. I'll be brief and specific with the description:
13 Drab grey stalks with small goosebump knobs. Some knobs are growing larger - perhaps the beginnings of branches?
Grew from about 1/4" to 1 inch in 1.5 months.
Today noticed what I believe to be very small polyps - barely perceptible when viewed against light. It could very well have been a thin film of detritus, though it would be strange for it to cling to the stalks.
The yellow polyps obscure the view but they appear to be branching from a common base since they are concentrated in tight clusters.
SPS coral perhaps?
Thanks,
EJ
