I came home today and very quickly realized my wonderful rainbow quiet one pump is DEAD not injured not overheated DEAD. I have all my ph's going and am manually dumping water from the sump into the tank and moving some water around. SO now I guess im in need of a new pump and suggestions? Does anybody know of a good price on one. I want to run about 1200 gph at 4' head. Thank guys and hopefully my tank wont crash until I get a new pump going. Also I have decided to redo my plumbing and what not, so Im open to any suggestions.

The two pumps im looking at right now are the smallest dolphin pump and the velocity T4 pump any input on them?
A mag 18 i think will put you near 1200 at 4 feet, i may be wrong, but i think its close. I like iwaki pumps as they are dependable, but non-submersable.

I think were gonna be ok here. It looks like the pump tripped its thermal overload protection thing. (it got really hot in my room today) I have since let the pump cool completely and reset itself. THe pump started right up:D I have added two fans blowing right onto the pump to keep it cool. I am still planning to replace the pump sooner rather than later (dont want this kinda thing to happen again). I am steering toward the two I mentioned above, I want plenty of powr because I might go to a 75 gallon with 55 gallon sump in the future. Thanks for the help guys and I hope that nothing goes wrong again.

dallas,
so are you still gonna redo your plumbing? that plumbing setup you got is rather complicated for a 55 oh, if you do, do it, you might wanna go with smaller tubing, i think you have 1" pipes right now for your outputs, try 1/2" or 3/4" it will give you more pressure. hows that bta doing? mine took right to the rocks, i have him in the center of my tank down low. he isn't taking food though. that worries me.

Bta is doing awesome havent seen my clown hardly since I put it in. He took 1.5 seconds to find the bta:D . I used 1.25" plumbing because I plan on later going with a bigger sump bigger tank and bigger pump. Sp there you have it but I am going to move the pump to the ground (easier to prime). Hey anybody got a dolphin pump they wanna get rid of???

I am using a Dolphin DP-560 on my 29. It was a little noisy when I first hooked it up but its very quiet now.

I vote Mag 18. I'm happy with my Mag and have had no problems with it. That should give you about what you need at 4 feet.
p.s. - what kind of clowns? I hate my stupid Ocellaris clowns. they won't host in either of my BTA's. I have 4 of em 2 blacks and 2 regular and they won't even look at em.
:mad2: I think I'm going to get rid of em and get some clarkii's or somethin.

Dallas,
Did you ever get your pump problem solved? What did you end up going with?
