It depends on the size of the tank, the depth and age of the sandbed. Can you help us out a little?

i have about 1-2 inches (lots of stuf in it for so little sand) in a 55 gal i will be moving it to a 72 bow so i will have to add a lot more to it because i want to make it a good 3 inches maby 4

I had one in a 75gal reef. He did like to take big gulps of sand and filter them out thru his gills....way cool. however, he liked to munch on greenstar polyps as well....Not Cool.

A dragon wrasse will completely destroy a DSB. I have had three DWs and although it is very cool to watch them "shimmy" into the sand, you aren't going to get a functional bed if you have one. I just gave away a 6 inch dragon wrasse and he would kick sand up like crazy! Also they don't look as good after they are grown. Mine ate bristleworms like crazy which is also not good for the DSB.
